Week 4 Rendering

This week in 3D Foundations, we had worked on Rendering. I honestly thought it would be a lot harder than it was planned out to be. But in fact, it was rather easy. The only hardships that came up were when Maya had decided to not play nice and reject Mental Ray. But other than that, it was really enjoyable to render. I just wish I was able to render more with many other things as well as learn how to do lighting for better environments.

Down below is what I had worked on, I honestly like the feeling it gives off. The light coming from above as well as how everything seems to give a kind of Noir/detective feeling with the sharp objects and magnifying glass.

My completed render of 4 objects, over casted by light.

Week 2 Actually Modeling

For week 2, I had to make 2 new models from our new levels and rebuild a previous asset done prior. I honestly was surprised with how quickly I was able to make these models. They only took me an hour or less per build.

Even though its just been 2 weeks, it's amazing to see how quickly I'm progressing when making models. I've found that making them, especially when extruding, makes my progress so much easier and cleaner. I've had a lot of fun making these models and I feel like doing some more to test my abilities.

Beginnings in 3D Foundations

My Beginnings in 3D Foundations

It's my first week here in 3D Foundations and honestly, I feel a intimidated. I've never used 3D modeling programs before and I'm extremely excited to start. I've always loved using clay with my hands so going towards 3D arts is something I've always dreamed of doing.

For my Blockout Assignment, I did a Scissors and a Coil. I had no real trouble with the Scissors, but the coil gave me such trouble. I tried to make the back plates for the coil and I had so much trouble. I used so many ways I knew to make the situation easier and had to go the easy route. Was sad honestly, but I still feel like I did a good job.
